A rota of supervision is drawn up on a yearly basis by the Deputy Principal whereby one Teacher and all Special Needs Assistants supervise.Â
Supervision times are as follows:
           10.50 – 11.00 &   12.30 – 1.00
The Discipline for learning policy for the school will be closely adhered to during all supervision and we consider that effective supervision is closely allied to school discipline.
If it should happen for any reason that a child has permission to remain indoors while the other children are out at play, the teacher on duty is not deemed responsible for that child, rather it is the teacher who gave the child permission to remain indoors.
No child should be on the yard until the teacher on supervision rings the bell.
Supervision of Lunchtime
ü Each Teacher supervises their own class from 12.20 – 12.30 at which time the children are lined up and when the bell rings they are brought to their yard. It is the decision of the teacher on supervision to decide whether weather conditions are suitable for outdoor play or not.
ü At 12.10 the teacher on supervision will be released from their class by the resource teacher for EFL. Work should be left and the transition should be as smooth as possible. If for any reason the EFL teacher cannot take over , the teacher on duty should contact the teacher next door and inform them that he/she is going to lunch.
ü During Wet Breaks / play, activities should be available for the children to occupy themselves whilst on their break or at lunch time. For the juniors activities such as colouring books should be left out so the SNAs and older children can organise these activities while the older children should know what activities they should occupy themselves with during wet play.
