We are very lucky to be beside the local swimming pool! Swimming is part of the National Primary Curriculum. We acknowledge the importance of learning to swim, for fun and safety, in and around water.
Each child from Junior Infants right up to 6th Class have the opportunity to take part in swimming lessons. Lessons begin in Spring and run for 6 weeks. We are able to cut costs by walking to our next-door pool. Parents sometimes come to watch the lessons from the pool balcony.
We thank the swimming instructors and life guards at the Aura Leisure Centre for their care, and for teaching the children to swim in a safe environment. We also thank Ms. McGovern who co-ordinates the swimming lessons.
